Big Energy Update: NJ Natural Gas Expanding Service to All Leisure Village West Homes

At the end of 2025, Leisure Village West in Manchester held an HOA meeting with representatives from NJ Natural Gas company. They announced they will roll out gas service to the rest of the community, which is currently electric-only. They are requesting interested homeowners to submit a request at SwitchToGas.com. Since the community has several thousand homes, installation priority will be determined by demand.
Gas lines will eventually be installed on all streets, but service to your home will require a homeowner’s commitment to install at least 2 appliances with natural gas hookups. The advantage of doing this now, when NJNG is already outside installing the service main line, is that there will be no fee to install the home service and the outside gas meter. Waiting till after the rollout is completed would be an additional cost to hook up to the gas main (costing the homeowner several thousand dollars more)
It will be the homeowner’s responsibility to hire a plumber/contractor to run gas lines inside the home and to the appliance locations. This could be your hot water heater and a gas dryer (which is your most economical choice). Although installing a new gas heating system will offer you the greatest benefits during the winter months, it will also enhance your home’s future resale value.
NJ Natural Gas also offers financing options and incentives. You can visit SaveGreen.com for this information.
Buyers moving to the community in the first half of 2026 may be able to get gas service if they reach out after closing on the property.
